Faction: Blackgate Prison Officers
Location: Blackgate Penitentiary (Downtown::Upper West Hill)
Real Name: N/A
Status: Senior Officer of Blackgate Prison

Public Knowledge
After serving as the head of security for Arkham Asylum for years, Cash eventually transferred to Blackgate after taking personal responsibly for Bane. After the Superman incident, Cash pushed for Bane to be relocated to Blackgate and transferred along with him. No body blamed Cash for Superman’s attack on Bane, but some think he feels somehow responsible. Now he works as the head of Blackgate’s subterranean security, and Bane is still his primary focus.

Calendar Man

Faction: N/A

Real Name: N/A

Arkham Psychological Profile
Day suffers from schizotypal personality disorder, with ideas of reference focusing around the calendar. He believes the major dates of the Gregorian calendar mark times when he is personally and uniquely freed from societal norms. On these dates, he exhibits mildly sociopathic, frequently criminal behavior. He is in general one of the easier patients to treat here at Arkham, except on major holidays, when he becomes impossible to handle, displaying borderline behavior and refusing to socialize throughout the day.

I have been unable to source his ideas of reference; I suspect incidents of childhood trauma related to a number of major holidays.

Firefly

Faction: Blackgate Inmates
Location: Blackgate Penitentiary (Downtown::Upper West Hill)
Real Name: Garfield Lynns
Status: Incarcerated in Blackgate Penitentiary

Arkham Psychological Profile
A dedicated pyromaniac, Lynns has embraced his disorder and, for much of his life, managed to positively reinforce his fire-starting tendencies and related euphoria through profits from various acts of arson. Horribly scarred by one of his own blazes (perhaps due to a euphoric fugue that left him incapable of escaping the flames?) Lynns’s extreme pathology definitely borders on the suicidal. Extreme treatment would be necessary to break the cycle of rewards he has set up for himself

He is extraordinarily adept at maintaining a cache of flammable items in his cell, despite his tendency to burn through them, pun intended.
It is rare for a pyromantic to graduate to psychopathic behavior equal to Lynns’s extreme acts of arson. And the extensive burns on his body seem to have barely affected him.

Public Knowledge
For years the only thing standing between Frank and the senior officer chair at Arkham Asylum was Aaron Cash. Despite being a notable alcoholic and being universally unliked in Arkham, Warden Strange saw fit to promote Boles after Cash transferred to Blackgate. Despite Boles long standing rumor of total corruption, he’s ran a tight ship at Arkham and breakouts are down considerably under his watch.

Great White Shark

Faction: Blackgate Inmates
Location: Blackgate Penitentiary (Downtown::Upper West Hill)
Real Name: Warren White
Status: Incarcerated in Blackgate Penitentiary

Arkham Psychological Profile
At best a mild psychopath upon admittance to the asylum, White has graduated into a full-blown case of antisocial personality disorder, partly due to maltreatment at the hands of his fellow inmates. After severe facial disfigurements Freeze left him without lips, nose, ears, or hair, White filed down his teeth in an attempt to further differentiate himself from others. His sense of self is now completely dependent upon his identity as a dangerous criminal.

Some of the guards are convinced that he is running criminal rackets out of the asylum. This has no bearing on his treatment and could provide valuable data regarding his condition.

Public Knowledge
Anyone who takes five minutes to listen to Harvey Bullock will hear about how he laughed when he heard that Batman was killed. Of course, he thinks it’s a pity that his good friend, James Gordon, threw his career away because of it. After Gordon stepped down and took control of Major Crimes, Bullock transferred with him. Bullock hoped he could pull James out of his slump, but in the mean time someone had to run Major Crimes. While Gordon pushed papers, Bullock did the footwork. While the GCPD doesn’t have much to be proud of it was agreed that Major Crimes was the only division still even bothering to do honest work. When the GCPD closed down the MCU, it was like telling Gotham they didn’t care anymore. Harvey transfered back to GCPD: Central and took a pointless desk job until he can retire.

Public Knowledge
Jack Ryder was a bland newscaster for years until he stumbled upon his ultra-conservative character. A few years after the arrival of the Batman, Ryder release a tirade against the Batman. His catchphrase “You are wrong!” came from that rant, after Ryder decried anyone who though that Batman was good for Gotham City. Like a true doomsayer, his tune changed after Batman’s death. Ryder now claims that if you don’t think that Batman was the only thing holding Gotham City from the brink, then… You. Are. Wrong!

Not wanting to start Thomas’ time as CEO on bad footing, Lucius stepped down from Wayne’s board of directors.

Mad-Hatter.jpg

Mad Hatter

Faction: N/A
Location: Unknown
Real Name: Jervis Tetch
Status: At Large in Gotham City

Public Knowledge
The last arrest Batman made before his death, Mad Hatter has been in a private wing of Arkham Asylum for the past year. Having developed a taste for small blonde girls, Hatter’s crimes began to disturb and horrify the other inmates. An unpopular figure, there were numerous attacks on Hatter until he was finally relocated to a private wing of the Asylum.

Arkham Psychological Profile
Tetch is a classic delusional who also displays an obsessive ideation based on hats. He believes that he is the true-life incarnation of the Mad Hatter from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Tetch’s skills as a hypnotist and his frankly inexplicable talent for inventions involving mind control make him at times a dangerous patient to treat.

Tetch is completely unmanageable when forced to bare his head, so the regulation of Arkham patient uniform rules have been relaxed in this area to facilitate his treatment.

Public Knowledge
Michael Akins was a popular detective around the time that Batman died. His firm stance against vigilante justice became a popular one shortly after the retirement of James Gordon. He was promoted to Commissioner and despite some of the worst crime rates in Gotham’s history is still considered one of it’s better Commissioners. Akins held one press conference after his promotion to address his stance on the Batman situation. In that conference Akins memorably said, “The loss of human life, regardless of the person, is always a regrettable situation. I mourn for anyone close to the Batman in life, for their grief must be as large as the man’s legacy. Yet I hope we can see this tragic incident as a beacon of hope for Gotham City. Men and women no longer need to live in fear of the night skies, of the violence and destruction that Batman inevitably left in his wake. For the first time in years, Gotham is going to be forced to stand on its own two feet. Feet that will carry us forward into a brighter, better day. We may stumble, but we will not fall.”

Suffering from acute anthropomorphic delusions, Flannegan is so convinced that he can control rats, that he has persuaded many of Arkham’s inmates, orderlies, guards, and even other doctors that he commands this fantastical ability. Personally, I don’t consider “evidence” provided to be convincing of anything, and find it much more likely that Flannegan has manifested a unique variation of a Messiah complex.

I’m hesitant to administer aggressive treatment before first doing a full write-up on his condition; it could be an easy way to get published and procure naming rights to a newly documented disorder. If only there weren’t so many odious vermin constantly swarming in his cell.

Ventriloquist

Faction: Blackgate Inmates

Status: Incarcerated in the Blackgate Penitentiary

Arkham Psychological Profile
Wesker is a very special case; previously he was a classic example of avoidant personality disorder, which intensified into a violent outbreak that led to his incarceration at Blackgate Prison. While there, he graduated into a fully realized delusion that his ventriloquist dummy, “Scarface”, is an independent personality exerting control over him. It is possible that Wesker is a legitimate example of multiple personality disorder. To probe this further, I’ve requested that he no longer be separated from his dummy during the treatment sessions.

It can be very difficult to question Wesker due to constant interruptions from “Scarface”.
Weskers delusion has led him to create a complicated backstory for “Scarface”, whose personality Wesker seems to have created from poorly written, old-fashioned gangster films.

Vicki-Vale.jpg

Vicki Vale

Faction: Gotham Media
Location: Gotham Broadcasting Center (Downtown::China Basin)
Real Name: N/A
Status: Host of “Goodmorning, Gotham!”

Public Knowledge
Vicki got her start as a journalist for the Gotham Gazette, doing mostly gossip columns until she landed a series on the Batman. Vicki’s career took off as her reporting on Batman’s nightly crime fighting proved extremely popular. She was invited onto the TV show Gotham Live! to talk about her reporting and became a reoccurring guest. It was around this time she began her short, but notable, romantic involvement with Bruce Wayne. Bruce helped her land a spot on the TV talk show, The Scene. This ended Vicki’s career making coverage of the Batman and would lead to her own morning talk show, Good Morning, Gotham! shortly before her and Bruce break up.

After Batman’s death, Vicki did a eulogy for Batman and remained a steadfast supporter of his work even when it became unpopular. Several months ago she began a relationship with Derek Powers, CEO of Powers Technology, and the two were married a month ago.

Dead Characters

Abattoir

Faction: None

Real Name: Arnold Etchison

Aquaman

Killed in a coup as he sat on the throne to Atlantis.

Batman I – Bruce Wayne

Batman was murder by Bane. Bruce Wayne was killed in a tragic industral accident several months ago. (An imposter was hired by the Society of the Bat to keep Batman’s identity as Bruce Wayne secret after his death)

Arkham Psychological Profile
Despite the Batman’s relationship with the Gotham City Police Department and public perception of him as a hero, I have gathered numerous reports of his activities from the inmates in the asylum, and have personally begun to wonder if they are his true peer group. Purely theoretically, I would posit the man whocalls himself “Batman” as an antisocial, possibly borderline individual with paranoid tendencies. His “crime-fighting” activities seem motivated by a belief that criminal behavior is some kind of personal affront, his use of an alias indicates identity disturbance, and he has a flagrant disregard for society’s norms and laws.

I’d presume a childhood free trauma; his mix of disorders seems much more likely to be caused by genetic predisposition, and possibly substance abuse.
His ideation around bats is peculiar and unique. My hope is to gather enough material from Arkham’s inmates to publish a psychological profile of the Batman, in which I would name a new category for his specific affliction. Chiroptera complex?

Batman II\Nightwing\Red X\Robin I – Dick Grayson

Killed in the battle with Chemo that destroyed Bludhaven.

Batgirl

Clayface I

Faction: Arkham Asylum Inmates
Location: Arkham Island Mental Health Institute (Midtown::The Narrows)
Real Name: Basil Karlo
Status: Incarcerated in the Arkham Island Mental Health Institute

Public Knowledge
There have been four people who’ve held the nickname Clayface in the past. The original, Basil Karlo, has been incarcerated in Arkham Asylum for several years. original Clayface, Basil Karlo, is still a resident of Blackgate Penitentiary. The second Clayface, Matthew Hagen, didn’t live much beyond the the month he terrorized Gotham. Preston Payne and Sondra Fuller, the third and fourth Clayfaces respectively, both vanished years ago. While Sondra was dangerous Preston Payne was truly terrifying; with the ability to melt people alive with a single touch. After Batman’s death rumors of a man made of clay living in the sewers of started circulating again. The Gotham Globe nicknamed the rumor Clayface but nobody is sure which Clayface it might be. If Sondra has returned then Gotham is in for a crime spree, but if Preston is back in town… The body count will be significantly higher.

Absorbed by Clayface V

Arkham Psychological Profile
Karlo seems instead to be suffering from borderline personality disorder, with a special emphasis on identity disturbance. He is difficult to pin down on any subject, and defends his wild changes in affect as evidence of his dramatic abilities, which he considers to be wildly underrated.

His identity is at risk of splintering, due to the growing frequency of his adopting the identities of others to the exclusion of taking on his own.
